Since we now seem to be in a holding pattern in our home; waiting on the late arrival of baby number three, I decided there was no better time to release my new hat and cowl pattern.
Many of you have been asking about the baby blanket pattern that I was knitting for our new little one, and although it's not written as a pattern (yet), it utilizes the same stitch pattern seen here in the Ore Creek Hat and Cowl.
I fell in love with the texture of this simple repeating cable pattern, and it has kind of taken over my knitting in the past few months.
A couple months ago I wrote to Sarah (aka The Plucky Knitter) to ask about her new yarn base, Scholar. I told her I was looking for a rustic orange/brown color and she sent a few skeins of of the Sticky Toffee colorway. I could not have been more pleased (with the yarn, the color, the feel)- amazing!
Now I know you may not see a ton of hat and cowl patterns released in the beginning of summer, and although I considered waiting to release these patterns closer to autumn, I ultimately decided that there's still a need for small hand knit accessories in summer- no?!
Sometimes in summer we still need a bit of warmth. Early morning tent camping- s'mores are just a memory, the bonfire from last night is now just warm ashes, and there's a layer of chilly dew on all your belongings (not to mention what said dew does to your 'do).
Plus, if you want to get ahead of the game, a small project is easy to bring along in the summer heat. So, without further ado, I give you the Ore Creek Hat and Cowl Pattern!
You can find it (along with more info) on Ravelry here.
